The Women's Refuge of St. Johns County

A New Beginning

As a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, The Women’s Refuge of St. Johns County is a safe place where women can start over with an understanding of God’s love, purpose, and plan for their lives.

The Women’s Refuge of St Johns County is an intensive, structured program where we work on the whole person. We provide a home-like environment where trained Christian leaders and counselors use Bible-based solutions to help women develop long-term goals, work through situational traumas, and heal from spiritual and emotional wounds. We help women from all walks of life, including women coming from incarceration, detox centers, homelessness, and abusive and seemingly hopeless situations.

The women's Refuge welcomes all women who are serious about lasting change, and who are committed to a new beginning in Christ.

Impacting Lives

The women in our program work through courses, such as codependency, boundaries, fear, forgiveness, anger management, self-worth, drug education and relapse prevention, financial management, and so much more.

Through counseling, the women are given assignments as they work through personal issues.

God not only restores the individual - He restores the family as well. We have seen countless families restored, and mothers restored with their children.

When the time is right, the women get jobs and they learn to manage their finances. They set short-term and long-term goals. It's always exciting to see their hard work pay off!

The bonds that are formed in the home amongst the women are priceless. They come alongside and encourage one another.

We celebrate completion of the program with a graduation and a certificate. By this time, the women have built a strong support system and they are ready to move forward. We remain family upon completion of the program. Most of the women choose to stay local and remain involved with the program in some way. Some choose to stay longer in our transition/trust program.
